This Sunday we had our annual Adoption Sunday at Normandy. John reminded us that our primary job is to worship Christ and allow Him to direct our action. And our Christ has given us a commandment - love others like He has loved us. And His love is both an adoptive love and an advocating love (Ephesians 1:3-10; John 13:34; 1 John 3:1; 1 John 4:7-11; 1 John 2:1).
This Sunday Pastor John preached on Adoption as a way to advance the mission of God. Adoption is greater than the universe and was always God's plan A to show us what He is really like: a Father. Driven by the Father's Heart and the Life of Christ, we are called to minster mercy to the world (Ephesians 1:3-6; Galatians 4:4-7; Romans 8:14-17).
This week we joined with churches all over the world to support Orphan Sunday, a day set aside to address the global plight of the orphan and God's heart for the church to be the answer to their need. John Bower taught on the Father's heart for people, His eternal plan for our adoption as believers in Jesus Christ, and His desire for the church to co-labor with Him to demonstrate His love and nature through adoption. The scriptures used in this message are James 1:27, John 14:18, and Ephesians 1:3-6. You can also watch the last video from the message here.
