“May the venerable exercises of holy devotion shape the hearts of your faithful, O Lord, to welcome worthily the Paschal Mystery and proclaim the praises of your salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who live sand reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
One of the most perfect depictions of Grace is found in Isaiah 55:1 when God proclaims, through the mouth of a prophet, “Come to the waters, all who thirst; though you have no money, come and drink with joy.” God offers His healing, His Grace, His living water to all thirsty people even though they cannot pay for it.
Our God does for us what we can’t do for ourselves. He also acts in a way that is impossible for many of us to understand. God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. When we create a god who acts like us, it makes us comfortable, but it also is doomed to fail. We fail. Any “god” designed to be like us will fail just like us.
God doesn’t fail. God offers water to thirsty people. God offers a free gift to save people who can’t ever repay Him for it. God is a great God.
