“O God, who grant us by glorious healing remedies while still on earth to be partakers of the things of heaven, guide us, we pray, through this present life and bring us to that light in which you dwell. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
Today we celebrate and rejoice. On the Saturdays of Lent we remind ourselves of the wonderful Spirit of God that allows us to share with Christ in His inheritance. We are thankful for God’s mercy and hope to become more aware of new mercies each day.
Jesus came to earth to show mankind a Father it never really knew. At the same time, he calls us His brothers and sisters before God. We are part of the family of Jesus because of His love for us. Hebrews 2 says that those who are made holy (us) are now in the same family as the one who made them holy (Jesus). If that isn’t a cause for rejoicing today, you don’t have a spiritual pulse.
The purity and devotion we find through Lent is a picture of the eternal devotion we have to Christ as part of His redeemed family. God’s great love for us allows us to join with each other and with His Son at the table of a beautiful family reunion. That’s a kingdom worth joining!
