This past Sunday was fun. With a little help from my friends (Kasey, Jackson, Haley, and Joshua), I tried to get us as a family to value how God designed us. He made us for Him and to walk in relationship with others!
Colossians 1:16 says we were created by Him and for Him. We are designed to have an alive, active and intimate relationship with the Creator of the Universe. The whole point of the Bible and our study of it should drive us to have a relationship with the Author of the book.
Not only that but we are designed in the image of the Trinitarian God of the Bible (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit). We are wired to walk in relationship! And He saw to it that we would have to do just that. First He gave us relational needs (see last weeks sermon) and gave us a commandment that would ensure we walked in relationship: love God and love people (Matthew 22:34-40).
So! This sermon series is been called action. Action is the process of doing something; to achieve an aim. Here is what I want you to do (if you haven't already).
- Take the Relational Needs Test
- Tell your spouse or your friend and tell them how to meet your need
- Ask them how you can meet their needs
- Read over the notes we passed out on Sunday and begin taking your findings to your spouse, your friends and your community
My heart is that we would so walk in love that John 17:21 would be a reality for our church:
I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one---as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
