“O God, who delight in innocence and restore it, direct the hearts of your servants to yourself, that, caught up in the fire of your Spirit, we may be found steadfast in faith and effective in works. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
At the end of Matthew 20 Jesus is approached by blind men. They scream out to Him to be healed, and are rebuked by the crowd following Jesus. They don’t let that stop them. These men keep yelling to Jesus, “Lord Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.” Jesus hears them and heals them.
How many times do we fall victim to the voices of the crowd telling us to keep quiet? We listen to bad influences, to friends, or to our own silencing fear and miss out on healing. God delights in innocence and restores it. He loves to heal us. Jesus had compassion on these men because He heard them fighting against the voices in the crowd.
They also weren’t afraid to tell Jesus exactly what they needed. We can’t be afraid of being honest with Jesus, expecting results. We need His help to do the works he has prepared for us, and He wants to hear us above the crowd.
